Breaking Bad is regarded by many critics and viewers to be the greatest television series of all time. Created by Vince Gilligan, the tragically comedic show of crime follows the misadventures of high school chemistry teacher Walter White, who “breaks bad” following his cancer diagnosis. Pressured by the financial reality of treating his cancer and providing for his family, Mr. White coercively enlists former student Jesse Pinkman to produce and sell methamphetamine.

What begins as an ambition to generate $737,000 from the drug trade becomes a multi-million dollar empire and Mr. White transforms into “Heisenberg”, regularly encountering dangerous criminals and lawless business protocols.

While Heisenberg’s baby blue is a story of fiction, Breaking Bad offers a stunningly compelling portrayal of the logistical challenges of selling drugs in real life.

Insights On Cannabis Security

As depicted in Breaking Bad, drugs are rarely manufactured or distributed without leaving footsteps that can later be traced by law enforcement. While the underground enterprise of meth involves avoiding and deceiving law enforcement, we are currently fortunate enough to live in a time where the legalization of marijuana in certain states means that cannabis businesses can and should cooperate openly and honestly with law enforcement.

Thanks to legalization in certain states of America, the cannabis industry has seen unprecedented growth in recent years. This allows marijuana to be sold and distributed by authorized growers and retailers in certain states. If you are a cannabis business, you can learn more about security management and compliance at https://ccsecuritysolutions.com/.

In his initial lab, an RV, Mr. White masters the process of producing as chemically pure of a product as possible. Mr. White trains his partner Pinkman on the “cooking” process, and they eventually come into a “superlab” through an arrangement to manufacture for a drug kingpin who will sell the product through his well-established distribution network. During this transition, matters of production are focused on securing mass quantities of raw material and minimizing contamination.

This sheds light on the fact that cannabis businesses need to implement solid security plans to protect their chain of business from end to end. Raw materials are at risk of contamination or theft. The marijuana plant itself can be sold on the black market. Burglars tend to view marijuana facilities as targets for this very reason.

Contamination or theft by third parties is not the only concern. In Breaking Bad, tensions arise when concerns are raised about employees stealing the final product from the lab in order to acquire inventory to sell outside of the contracted distribution channel. This reflects a risk to real businesses known as internal theft, where employees steal goods sold by their employer in order to profit from selling the goods outside of authorized retail.

Security cameras are installed in the Breaking Bad superlab shortly after a dispute between the chemists and their boss, the distributor. When it comes to businesses that manufacture or distribute marijuana products, technology should be used effectively to monitor any suspicious or unauthorized activity. Recorded evidence can provide law enforcement with valuable data to act accordingly.

Life has its highs and lows.

Every now and then, life will surprise us with the good or the bad. Occasionally, we will stumble upon a rough patch. And when we stumble, we must remember, in any way possible—whether it be through friends, family, strangers, books, or movies—that light awaits the end of tunnels, and rainbows await the end of storms.

“If we didn’t have bad days we wouldn’t appreciate good ones.”

The good times stir up hope, optimism, and motivation. But in a turbulent world, life can skew more toward the lows than the highs. It can be difficult for many to experience positive emotions like joy, excitement, or humor on a daily basis.

Go online, browse the internet, and wherever people voice their opinions, you’ll see how most adults in America feel that life is mostly one long, monotonous upward sludge, climbing up the muddy hill that is burnout.

These days, highs are rare to come by.

So people get high.

We’re talking about cannabis.

Consuming marijuana through smoking, vaping, or edibles gives the user a “high”, sensation of euphoria, bliss, and relaxation.

Recreational marijuana use is what gives the realm of cannabis products their good and bad notoriety. Of course, getting high recreationally is not the only way people consume cannabis. Cannabis has shown steady adoption from a niche subset of Californian culture into the broader American mainstream, with perceptions shifting its classification into the umbrellas of “wellness” and “self-care”.

The destigmatization somewhat came along with the growing prevalence of medicinal cannabis, changing the public perception of cannabis as something only for “stoners” or “couch potatoes”. It turns out that a more compassionate view of cannabis use allows us to see that the mood-altering effects can be beneficial for those struggling with mental health issues or extenuating life circumstances. Moreover, some cannabis products, like CBD oil, are not produced or consumed for recreational purposes, but for physical pain alleviation.

Two things that are expected to rise during a recession are drug use and crime. This is both good news and bad news for cannabis retailers, dispensaries, and growers.

Demand for both recreational and medicinal substances is relatively unaffected by times of recession. A phenomenon economists refer to as the “lipstick effect”, some substances, such as alcohol and marijuana, are even expected to increase in demand.

Cannabis products may be the type of good that increases in demand in recessions due to the human desire to seek small indulgences during economic downturns.

Cannabis businesses need cannabis security plans to protect themselves when it comes to a product that is so greatly desired by consumers and criminals alike. The plant itself, even in its raw form, is attractive to thieves, as it can be illegally processed and lucratively sold in the black market. Moreover, businesses must navigate and adapt their security plans to be compliant with ever-evolving cannabis legislation and law enforcement.

We recommend seeking experts like Cannabis Compliant Security Solutions to help protect your business and everyone in it from financial or physical harm. You can give them a call today.

Thailand, Kim Kardashian, and the Olympics have all made headlines with one plant in common.

Cannabis.

Thailand has become the first country in Asia to partially legalize marijuana. The BBC reports that “households will be able to cultivate up to six cannabis pot plants at home if they register with authorities, and companies can also farm the plant with a permit.” However, smoking weed in public will still be considered an arrestable nuisance. Nevertheless, the new laws mean that the government may now release thousands of prisoners convicted of cannabis-related offenses.

Similar releases had also been made possible thanks to the advocacy of Kim Kardashian, who had helped to free a number of people, including Crystal Munoz, originally arrested for “conspiring to distribute marijuana.” Munoz had entered prison during her pregnancy and given birth to her child in shackles: an experience highlighted in the 2018 bill the First Step Act, which banned shackling of female prisoners in labor.

WNBA star Brittney Griner was detained at a Moscow airport, with Russian authorities claiming that she possessed cannabis oil in her luggage and accused her of smuggling. Griner is a six-time WNBA All-Star who holds two Olympic gold medals and one WNBA title. Her story is an echo of the experience of American sprinter Sha’Carri Richardson, who was banned from the Tokyo Olympics after testing positive for marijuana.

With both good and bad publicity, no more attention has ever been paid (literally—we’re talking big money) to cannabis products. It’s a hotter topic than ever, with advocates pushing for governments to legalize the substance sooner rather than later.

There are far too many stories of people who have met their downfall as a consequence of marijuana use. It’s ironic given the fact that most Americans support the legalization of marijuana for recreational or medical use. The numerous stories of athletes being banned from competing on charges of doping or people being arrested on charges of possession can be heartbreaking, given the widespread sentiment that cannabis consumption should be as legal as alcohol and tobacco consumption.

The buzz around cannabis is a warning to growers, dispensaries, and retailers to tighten their seal around Security for Cannabis. With ever-changing cannabis laws, business owners need expert counsel to help them navigate the risks of the industry. While the country seems to be headed in the right direction, there is still an interminably long road ahead before we arrive at a time and place where weed-related punishments are more befitting to the crimes.

Moreover, despite the sociopolitical and legal progress that we seem to be headed towards, owning and operating a cannabis business is as risky as ever before. Cannabis Security Planning is as crucial an aspect of the business as any other aspect. Criminals are unlikely to back down from eyeing establishments as targets while law enforcement will need time to adapt to new laws. Ultimately, it will be up to the due diligence and preparation of the businesses themselves to be prepared for any situation.

Cannabis has been experiencing consistent high growth. As a relatively new industry, it has quickly become a staple for consumers and investors alike. Forbes reports that cannabis sales “were $20 billion in 2020, and are expected to exceed $26 billion in 2021” and that the “legal Cannabis market is bound to grow 20-30% per year to the price of 50 billion by 2026.”

Military Veterans Guard Millions of Dollars of Weed

Force has historically been associated with cannabis, specifically in the war on drugs. But now, with recreational and medical use being decriminalized in many states, military force has taken on a different implication—security and compliance. The growth of the industry presents many opportunities for those who have experience with firearms.

The cannabis industry is providing both relief and job opportunities to veterans. Post-traumatic stress disorder is a mental health condition that many veterans experience and can be alleviated by cannabis. Cannabis can provide relief for those with depression, anxiety, and chronic pain. For those afflicted with addiction, cannabis can assist with rehabilitation.

Loss Prevention

Many veterans are also armed security guards for dispensaries. Dispensaries are a hot target for theft and burglary; they hold large quantities of both cash and a high liquidity asset, cannabis, that can be resold for cash. This has made life dangerous for owners, operators, and employees. As such, security and compliance is an operational problem that can affect everyone and everything, including the business bottom line. Furthermore, the security of a location is a matter of life and death; real human lives are at risk during a break-in.

Litigation Prevention

Dispensaries and cannabis businesses need to be protected. The security measures that are warranted to mitigate the risks of operating a dispensary must fall in line with state and federal regulations. Cannabis businesses must have a valid permit. Delays in receiving a valid permit mean that the grower or dispensary will not be allowed to operate, which can mean months of losses of revenue. As such, it is highly recommended to consult with security and compliance experts to ensure that your security plan complies with local regulations.

Security Training

Every cannabis business needs security guards with custom training. Buildings must be installed with select cameras and alarm systems to monitor security breaches. The premises must be secured by access control and badging so as to only allow for authorized access without disrupting the flow of operations.

Growers and dispensaries in high crime or high traffic areas also need to account for the risks in their community and be aware of local crime organizations and criminals. Cannabis businesses need to be prepared to be targeted by those who commit both violent and non-violent crimes, without solely relying on local law enforcement to be there in the event of an emergency.

CBD oil comes from the cannabis sativa plant, better known as marijuana and for the active psychoactive ingredient contained therein, THC. Not all cannabis sativa plants are the same, however; different ‘strains’ or genetic varieties of the plant contain higher or lower levels of THC, with the lower end of the spectrum being referred to as ‘hemp’ and the higher end of the spectrum referred to as ‘marijuana’ (among other colloquial names and phrases). CBD oil comes from hemp cannabis, which contains 0.3% or less THC.

The cannabis plant contains over 80 different compounds outside of THC, many of which have been found to have beneficial health effects. CBD oils have been used to help alleviate symptoms of epilepsy, multiple sclerosis, Crohn’s disease, as well as psychological conditions like anxiety disorders, depression, and insomnia. Each of the chemical compounds found in CBD may contribute to different health outcomes, with some targeting pain receptors, some reducing inflammation of various bodily systems, and others providing soothing effects on the mind.

Pharmaceutical companies have thus far focused on isolating singular compounds for a specific and targeted purpose, such as GW Pharmaceuticals’ product Epidiolex, which isolates the primary compound responsible for seizure reduction in patients suffering from acute epilepsy. For the typical user who is concerned for their general health, it’s widely recommended that they use a tincture that contains all 80 of the compounds typically found in the cannabis plant in order to get the best possible results.

Not all CBD oil products are the same, however – because the industry is relatively new and research on the substance is ongoing, there’s almost no regulation on items put on the market. It’s a bit like the wild west, with anyone with a general knowledge of how to isolate the ingredients capable of bottling up whatever they produce, slapping a label on it with a number indicating what they believe to be the CBD oil content, and selling it to whomever they can.

With this in mind, it’s extremely important to find reputable companies with people who actually know what they’re doing if you’re planning on buying CBD products. One such company is Bottle & Stone, who own and operate an organic hemp farm in the wilds of Vermont for the sole purpose of CBD oil production and distribution.

Bottle and Stone’s line of high quality CBD oil tinctures utilize an all-organic list of ingredients to not only enhance the flavor of their products, but their effectiveness. Bottle & Stone manages to grow their hemp organically while also using a self-sustaining system of biodynamic farming, meaning that fertilizer and pest control is provided by animals and companion plants on the farm. All ingredients are produced and incorporated with the user’s health in mind.

The company’s CBD tinctures are full-spectrum, meaning the extracts contain all previously mentioned chemical compounds found in the cannabis plant, including flavonoids, terpenes, CBN and CBG. The company’s production team is filled with experienced professionals, all of whom are well versed in producing plant extracts in exact amounts, which means each product will be uniform in their CBD oil content as it’s delivered to you.

If you or anyone you know suffers from some form of chronic pain or psychological distress, give Bottle & Stone’s products a look. They taste incredible, and the data coming in speaks highly of CBD’s transformative effects on health.

CBD oil has become something of a social phenomenon since the second half of the 2010’s, with products ranging from simple tinctures to widely distributed soft drinks boasting that it contained the substance. For most of these products, the quality of the CBD oil ranges all over the map, with no real regulatory agency taking responsibility for ensuring the cleanliness and safety of the manufacturing and distribution process. Anyone who could extract the oil could slap a label on it and put it to market, regardless of the actual CBD content and the quality of the other liquids it was mixed in.

For those of us that care about what we put in our bodies, this situation is untenable. Without some solid information backing up the claims made by the labeling, we’d hesitate to consume anything, especially something that is commonly used as a medicine. Luckily, some enterprising CBD oil aficionados recognized the unserved population of us more paranoid health-conscious individuals and began stepping up the level of control over the production and distribution of the oils to create the most pure and naturally sourced tinctures possible.

Enter Shayna Taylor and her company Bottle & Stone CBD Oil, the first farm-to-table CBD Oil tincture producers that we’ve found. Bottle & Stone owns and operates a hemp farm in Vermont (all organic, of course) that also houses their production facility. They grow the hemp, extract the CBD oil, suffuse it into a tincture that contains flavoring materials such as cinnamon bark and oil, peppermint, and monk fruit extract, bottle it and distribute it themselves to ensure every step is done as naturally and conducive to a healthful product as possible.

The company owner, Shayna, has a long and storied history with CBD oil. She was first introduced to it as an alternative treatment for the frequent back pain caused by scoliosis, as she expounded upon in a recent interview with Ryan Secrest:

“Ryan Seacrest celebrated the launch of Shayna Taylor’s new CBD line, Bottle & Stone, on-air on Wednesday, April 22.

CBD stands for cannabidiol. CBD is an all-natural cannabidiol that comes directly from the hemp plant and is a legal, non-THC alternative with a plethora of wellness benefits. Bottle & Stone, Shayna shared on-air, is also grown certified organic straight from a farm in Vermont.

“It doesn’t get you high,” Shayna clarified on-air, revealing CBD has personally helped ease her scoliosis pain. “Everyone is still learning the difference between marijuana and hemp and the difference is the higher THC level in marijuana and …more CBD in hemp plants so you get all the CBD benefits.”

Benefits include aid with sleep, anxiety and pain relief.

“I have a pinched nerve, scoliosis,” Shayna shared. “Ryan knows; I complain about my pinched nerve all the time — it sucks because you live with it every day and it’s sad to say that it becomes your normal but CBD has really helped me with one, the pain, and [two], relaxing,” Shayna added.”

CBD oil has been found to have benefits for a number of different medical issues, including chronic pain caused from inflammatory diseases such as arthritis, psychological disorders such as depression and anxiety, sleep disorders such as insomnia, and some forms of childhood epilepsy. It’s been found to help reduce stress-causing hormones like cortisol, leading many to take the oil to help them get a restful night’s sleep and keep calm while under unusual amounts of stress.

CBD oil’s ability to reduce stress, anxiety, and relieve symptoms of epilepsy have given researchers hope that it can be used for neuroprotective therapy. Research is being done to determine if the oil can help lengthen and improve the quality of life for people suffering from neurodegenerative diseases such as Alzheimer’s disease, Parkinson’s and the aftereffects of strokes.

Bottle & Stone’s focus appears to be on the psychological effects of CBD oil, as their products are marketed as energy balancing additions to morning drinks such as coffee or tea. One of their products, the CBD Mint Spritz, even comes in a spray bottle and doubles as a sort of breath freshening spray that contains all of the stress-reducing benefits of a typical dose of 250 mg worth of CBD oil.

CBD oil has a lot of potential, with more research being done on its positive health effects every day. Unfortunately, a lot of us have been hesitant to jump on the bandwagon due to the poor quality control in the cheap, mass produced garbage you see on store shelves. With companies like Bottle & Stone leading the charge in ensuring the integrity of each ingredient by growing or producing it themselves, I think even the most paranoid among us will feel comfortable adding it to our normal rotation of supplements.
